(Skip Dickstein/Times Union) Photo: SKIP DICKSTEIN Given the importance of a home purchase and the role that a real estate agent plays in process, don't cut corners. An activity list should detail, over at least the past year, every real estate transaction that the agent has been involved in. At a minimum, the list should include the sales price and location of the property, as well as whether the agent represented the buyer or seller. As you interview prospective agents, be clear about what types of information you expect in their activity list. Don't consider hiring an agent who is unwilling to provide this information, as it usually indicates an agent ashamed of his or her track record, or someone who is too busy or lazy to provide it. As you review activity lists, you should be looking for agents who have experience with buyers similar to you (i.e. buyers who have bought in the same price range and neighborhoods in which you're looking).

Protecting dog from rattlesnake bite

Dog owners can take steps to keep pet and rattlesnakes apart. In most cases, the dog does warn before biting, but the child (or adult) does not get the message because he doesn't understand dog body language This is why dog bite prevention training is necessary and effective. The shock and emotional trauma of families whose beloved pet has now bitten their child can be devastating.

The Pune Municipal Corporation officials attributed the sharp rise to the ongoing mating season. "Dog-bite cases go up during the monsoon. Easy availability of food from street food joints and restaurants is another reason for the surge in these cases," said Anjali Sabane, medical officer in the health department of the PMC, while speaking to TOI. Sabane said treatment is available at 14 municipal hospitals and at three civic out patient departments, which has helped in reducing the cases of rabies in the city. "Many people ignore dog-bites and seek medical assistance only when the infection sets in completely," she added. Six dog bite cases have been registered in a span of two days in Bhusari colony area in Kothrud.

The latest power outage lasted about five hours, leaving many wondering, "when will this weather end?" In case the power fails again, which wouldn't be surprising, we asked readers what advice they have for another blackout. Both practical and impractical, here are some of their suggestions. Practical: we have a little Coleman camp stove to cook on if the power is out for an extended period of time.
