Reports routine, charges seldom in dog-bite cases in metro area

This morning, while we were checking him, he got more aggressive and started running after people there. He, in fact, bit a 25-year-old patient at the hospital. When I took his history, his attendant told me that he was bitten by a stray dog about 10 days ago. Suspecting him to be suffering from hydrophobia, we did a simple test and brought water in front of the patient. He got convulsions and suffered from laryngeal spasms, thus confirming that he indeed is suffering from rabies.

Her time in pediatrics exposed her to a lot of dog bite victims, but still didn't prepare her for the morning last year when her seven year old German Shepherd Ceasar viciously attacked. "Seven o'clock in the morning and it happened," she said. "The dog just attacked me. First he got my thumb." Eleonora suffered extensive wounds to her hands and torso. She lost the tip of her left thumb. After the dog was put down, it was determined he had a brain tumor that apparently altered his normally sweet disposition.

You had either (1) better be right or (2) have some big kahunas to make that argument to a jury with a straight face. I recently saw a couple of examples of the aDog Bitea defense which caught my eye. The first was in an article in the most recent issue of The New Yorker, entitled a Buried Secrets a, by Patrick Radden Keefe. His article discussed the ongoing situation involving the Beny Steinmetz Group Resources Group (BSGR), its mining concession in the country of Guinea and its representative Frederic Cilins, who is in jail in New York, denied bail and awaiting jail for obstruction of justice charges.

Albany Med offers tips on dog bites

Altered dogs are less likely to bite. Dont chain your dog. Chaining increases aggression in dogs. Socialize your dog or young puppy, so it feels at ease around people and other animals. Gradually expose your dog to a variety of situations under controlled circumstances; continue that exposure on a regular basis. Dont allow your dog to be in places where it might feel threatened or be teased. Attend a dog training class. The basic commands sit, stay, off, and come can be incorporated into fun activities that build a bond of obedience and trust between pets and people.
