Column: Tips to avoid dog bites

Ash Patel, a plastic surgeon at Albany Medical Center. On Friday, the hospital hosted a news conference to warn people that a dog's bark isn't always worse than its bite. According to doctors, bites to the face and hands are most common. "Those have to be cleaned out very thoroughly, sutured appropriately, make sure there's no other injuries like bone or tendon injuries. Most of those are placed on antibiotics because there's such a high risk of infection," said Dr. Joshua Pacheco, an emergency physician at Albany Medical Center.

Texas ranks 3rd in the nation for dog bites

Briggs Freeman Sotheby In an exhaustively reported article, Keefe wrote about his interviews with many of the principal players in this saga including BSRG founder Beny Steinmetz, its representative Cilins and the current President of Guinea, Alpha CondA. As reported in two Financial Times (FT) articles, entitled aContracts link BSGR to alleged bribesa (the amine rights articlea) and aFBI sting says that aagenta sought to have mining contracts destroyeda (the aFBI sting articlea), by the same triumvirate of FT reporters Tom Burgis, Misha Glenny and Cynthia OaMurchu; there are allegations that aThe resources arm of Beny Steinmetz Group agreed to pay $2m to the wife of an African president to help it secure rights to one of the worldas richest untapped mineral deposits, according to documents seen by the Financial Timesa. These payments were allegedly memorialized in aCopies of two contracts from 2007 and 2008, apparently signed by BSGRas representatives in the mineral-rich west African nation of Guinea, set out agreements for the company to make payments and transfer shares to Mamadie TourA, wife of the then president Lansana ContA.a The FBI sting article reported that on Sunday April 14, 2013, aFrederic Cilins held the last of a series of meetings with the widow of an African dictator to discuss what she was going to do with some sensitive documents.a Unfortunately for Cilins he adid not realise that the woman he was talking to was wearing a wire and that FBI agents were watching. As he left the meeting, the agents arrested him carrying envelopes filled with $20,000 in cash, the indictment says. That was a pittance compared with the $5m he was taped offering the dictatoras widow during what US authorities say was a two-month campaign to tamper with a witness and destroy records.a So how does the Dog Bite defense come into play here? As reported by Keefe during his interview with Beny Steinmetz, Steinmetz said athe documents that were discussed in Jacksonville did not prove anything, he said-they were forgeriesa, these were the aalleged documentsa that Cilins was so keen to get back from Mamadie TourA. Keefe also reported that the BSGR representative, Asher Avidan, when presented with a photograph of a signature told Keefe that the signature awas identical to his own but dismissed it as aa simple Photoshop.a While it might not be anything new to claim that a signature on a contract is a forgery, especially if you do not want to acknowledge that you signed the document in question, the next line of defense is certainly an aall-ina play.

After about 10 minutes of speaking softly and lovingly to these giant dogs I decided to step over the fence slowly and deliberately telegraphing my every move. I did not want to frighten these dogs after all; I was a stranger coming into their domain. Once I was on the other side of the fence, I stood completely still. Titan, the bigger of the two dogs, slowly came over to check me out. He moved toward me.

Dog Bite Defense No. 4 And The Defense Of An FCPA Claim

On the agency's list of 15 cities with most dog attacks on postal workers, San Antonio ranked second with 42 incidents; Houston was ninth on the list with 27 attacks, and Dallas was No. 13 with 21 incidents. Many attacks on letter carriers came from dogs whose owners used the famous last words, "my dog wont bite." To help your dog stay on its best behavior, Houston's BARCanimal shelter suggests a few preventative measures: Never leave a child unattended with a dog, even a family pet. Work one-on-one with your pet to reduce anxiety in uncomfortable situations. Keep dogs leashed in public to prevent confrontations. Keep pets confined when postal workers deliver mail.
