No mail after dog bites postman

Of those injured, 386,000 require treatment in an emergency department and about 16 die. Article Photos The rate of dog bite-related injuries is highest for children 5 to 9 years old; the rate decreases thereafter. Almost two-thirds of these injuries among children ages 4 years and younger are to the head or neck region. Almost one half of all reported cases of dog bites involve an animal owned by the victim's family or the victim's neighbors. Most victims are involved in normal, nonprovoking activities before the dog attacks. For example, neonatal deaths resulting from a dog bite most often involve a sleeping baby. Injury rates in children are significantly higher for boys than for girls.

Royal Mail temporarily withdrew delivery services after a postman was attacked. A spokesman from Royal Mail said they take employee health and safety very seriously. "We are seeking assurances from the dog owner that the dog in question will be kept secured and not roaming the neighbourhood while we undertake deliveries," a statement read. During a meeting with the Housing Executive, the council's dog warden, and Royal Mail on Wednesday, Sinn Fein councillor Eamonn Mac Con Midhe said residents are worried for their own safety.
