VA Woman Cited for Pit Bull Attack Against Child; Distinguished Dog Bite Attorney Jeff Nadrich Responds

According to the victim's mother, Martin was visiting at the time, but she departed before police arrived. Authorities later tracked her down at her home, after which she was booked and later released. The matter is still under investigation. Dog Bite attorney Jeff Nadrich, of Nadrich & Cohen, LLP, points out that dog owners bear a legal responsibility in the event of an attack. According to Nadrich, The specific laws vary somewhat from state to state, but most states impose a strict liability on dog owners. In other words, if your dog bites another human being or animal, the responsibility falls on your shoulders, regardless of the surrounding circumstances. Nadrich urges all dog bite victims to contact a professional personal injury attorney who specializes in dog bites for advice.

If you say anything, speak calmly and firmly. Avoid eye contact. Try to stay still until the dog leaves, or back away slowly until the dog is out of sight. Dont turn and run. If you fall or are knocked to the ground, curl into a ball with your hands over your head and neck.
